What is glamping? Find out more about how to be comfortable while camping with the new glamping trend.
Why is it Called Glamping?
First things first. What is glamping? And, what do you need to know about glamping to get started?
Glamping is a portmanteau word that combines “Glamorous” and “Camping”.
So, when you are glamping, you are camping and doing so glamorously. This tent is an absolute must for glamping.
Why Glamping is Gaining Popularity
Glamping is becoming so popular because you get all of the benefits of regular camping without the inconvenience. When you go glamping, you use luxury equipment that makes camping more comfortable.
Sleep on the ground? Nope.
Eat cold, canned food? Nope.
Enjoy the beautiful outdoors? Yep.
Get the idea? Why be uncomfortable camping when you can go GLAMPING?
Is Glamping Better Than Camping?
Glamping isn’t necessarily better than regular camping. It all depends on the person. Also, you don’t have to go one way or the other.
You can splurge on the things that are the most important to you and stick with the basics that you don’t mind. For example, you don’t have to buy a luxury tent, but you can splurge on a generator and bring your coffee maker. It’s all about what your priorities are.
The obvious downside to glamping is the additional cost. However, if you can afford it, then why not? Some might also argue that glamping takes away from camping a bit. If you go too far with the electronics and all of the things you need to bring and set up, is it really camping anymore?
So, you’ll have to decide for yourself if you think glamping is a better option than regular camping. Also, glamping is different for everyone so take what you want and leave the rest.
What you need to know about glamping
You can either DIY your glamping trip or rent out a glamping spot. Here’s how to not be uncomfortable camping.
Renting a Glamping Spot
If you go online and search “glamping near me” you’ll probably see quite a few results depending on where you live. You might see some of these popular rental websites:
You’ll find prices from under $25/night to above $200/night depending on the location and amenities. You can rent everything from camping trailers to gorgeous bell tents and yurts. Filters are available on most sites to choose which amenities are a must, like showers, toilets, and generators.
Before you book your trip, make sure that you check the details of the rental spot. Do they allow animals? Is there a limit on number of guests allowed? Is there somewhere for you to cook? Do they have drinking water on site?
Make sure to check reviews from other glampers as well. You’ll find tips and things to be aware of from what they say.
The great thing about booking a glamp spot that’s already set up is that you don’t have to bring a ton of stuff with you. Take note of what they have there already and then pack the rest of what you need accordingly.
DIYing Your Glamping Trip
If you are going to create your own glamping experience, you’ll have a little more work to do. Find a place to camp that you can setup comfortably. You can go dispersed/primitive camping or find a campground and make reservations.
There are a lot of great things to take glamping with you. From luxury tents to blow up mattresses. Make sure you pack everything you need for your glamorous camp trip.
There is more to set up and take down when you DIY glamp. Once you’re set up, it’s completely worth it though.
